This week, I want to share something a little different. You may be familiar with the art of manifestation - and it's something that has deeply impacted how I approach my own goals behind the chair, in my suite business, and as a mentor.
I’ve been digging my heels into the why behind manifestation - not just the “woo,” but the actual neuroscience that explains why it can work. And I want to offer you something you can literally try this afternoon to start embodying the next level of your business.
When we talk about manifestation, most people think of visualization and journaling. Seeing yourself with the full book, the aligned clients, the healthy pricing, the schedule that lets you travel. And yes-visualization is powerful.
But here’s something you might not know: your sense of smell is actually one of the most direct pathways to your brain. It’s the only sense that bypasses your typical filters and lands directly in the places that form memory, emotion, and habit.
So how do we use this in a simple manifestation practice?
I heard a story recently about a business owner who had a very specific income goal. To keep it top of mind, she didn’t just visualize the number...she smelled money. Literally. She’d hold dollar bills up to their nose to create a strong, visceral association with abundance.
Sounds a little out there, right? But in practice, it’s genius. Because it keeps that goal in your body, not just your mind. Over time, the action and correlation subtly nudges you to make those small, consistent moves that get you there.
And this doesn’t just apply to money goals.
Maybe you’re not a hairstylist primarily motivated by the number in the bank, but you are passionate about creating a higher-level experience for your salon guests.
Ask yourself: What does that feel like?
Smell is such an easy place to start. Light a candle that smells like the fancy hotel lobby you loved that you splurged on once. Use a room spray that feels elevated. Choose products with scents that transport you somewhere that embodies how you want your suite to feel.
It might seem small (even silly).
But when you tune your senses to the level you want to operate on, you start making decisions from that level, too.
You change the vibe of your salon space -> You show up differently behind the chair -> You think more intentionally about your pricing, your policies, your guest experience.
And the universe has a funny way of meeting you there.
If you try this, let me know. I’d love to hear what you choose to incorporate.
Here’s to the tiny rituals in your salon suite that change everything.
